Weapons Carry Permits are administered through Catoosa County Probate Court.

If you would like to apply for, or renew a weapons carry permit at the Probate Court Office, we are now accepting applications on a first come/first serve basis.

Application Process

1. Submit the Weapons Carry Permit Application online OR fill out an application in person at the Probate Court office located inside the Catoosa County Courthouse, 875 Lafayette Street, Ringgold, GA. If you choose to fill out the application online, you have 2 weeks after the information is submitted to complete the application process at the Courthouse.

2. The judge of the probate court of each county shall, on application under oath, and on investigation of applicant issue a weapons carry license or renewal license valid for a period of five years to any person whose domicile is in that county or who is on active duty with the United States armed forces and who is not a domiciliary of this state but who either resides in that county or on a military reservation located in whole or in part in that county at the time of such application.

3. An application shall be considered to be for a renewal license if the applicant has a weapons carry license or renewal license with 90 or fewer days remaining before the expiration of such weapons carry license or renewal license of 30 or fewer days since the expiration of such weapons carry license or renewal license regardless of the county of issuance of the applicant's expired or expiring weapons carry license or renewal license.

4. An applicant who is not a United States citizen shall provide sufficient personal identifying data, including without limitation his or her place of birth and United States issued alien or admission number, as the Georgia Bureau of Investigation may prescribe by rule or regulation.

Legal Requirements

Must show proof of the following to complete application process:

• Valid Georgia’s Driver’s License with the correct Catoosa County address
• 21+ years old
• 18+ years old with proof of completed basic training in the armed forces of the United States
