Mission
The Transportation Department will strive to provide all commuters of Catoosa County the safest, most efficient system of roads possible to enhance economic productivity and quality of life within the community.
Role:
Our main role is to apply a comprehensive approach to the county’s transportation system with careful consideration of how transportation needs impact our community’s priorities, from public safety to economic and community development. A key function of the department is the planning and development of our county’s infrastructure.
Responsibilities
We assist in strategies for efficient and effective design, construction, and maintenance of our transportation infrastructure. The department serves as the county’s liaison to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), the Chattanooga Transportation Planning Organization, and other organizations pivotal to the success of the county transportation system.
Other key responsibilities included:
- Install and maintaining traffic signs
- Managing the county’s asset management programs such as pavement management signs, & stormwater culverts
- Right of way and driveway permitting
- Residential & Commercial Development plan review and inspection to ensure compliance with the county’s Unified Development Code (UDC)
- Project management
- Traffic volume collection
